Staying afloat, or more achieving a high and horizontal body position in the water is really important when freestyle swimming. A good body position involves three core elements: ⸻ 1. Neutral Head Position • Your head should stay aligned with your upper body, looking down toward the bottom of the pool, not lifting forward or backward, which increases drag and causes your legs to sink.  • When breathing, rotate your head to the side rather than lifting it, keeping it in line with your body.  •
