In the last post I went back to some of my old cellular automaton demos, and I found this nice CA I hadn't posted yet. The two others are variants of the first, with the last one being a recent find. The basic idea is a multilevel CA, with each of the 256 levels encoded as a hue. Each bit position runs its own Life-like CA. These 3 variants use different rules for mixing up the levels, converting the value x into (x - 1) mod 256 depending on different conditions. #cellularautomaton #gameoflife #
