Today, 23 of opera’s most promising young singers—selected from 1,200 applicants—compete in the semifinals of the 2021 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. For the first time, the semifinal round—normally held on the Met stage—is streaming for free from different locations around the world. 19 talented opera singers, including nine former current Santa Fe Opera Apprentice singers, will showcase their artistry in the semifinal round of the prestigious Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition, taking place on the Met stage before a panel of judges on April 11 at 10 am ET.
